'Untenable' Cuts To LGFS Start On 1 December

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced that the proposed cut to the Litigator's Graduated Fee Scheme (LGFS) 'Pages of Prosecution Evidence' threshold will come into force on 1 December; the proposal reduces the threshold over which solicitors are not paid from 10,000 to 6,000 pages.

The MoJ's other proposed cut, to the S.38 payments, has been suspended to allow the ministry to give further consideration to the proposals.

The Law Society maintains its position that these cuts are "untenable [...] given how economically fragile the market is."
