Law Society Mentoring Programme

Law Society Mentoring Programme

Through research and analysis, the Law Society knows that women, members of ethnic minorities, LGBT and disabled solicitors are under-represented at the top of the legal profession. Therefore, for the second year in succession, the Society, working in partnership with diversity and inclusion specialists Brook Graham, are running a mentoring scheme to support career progression for solicitors from these under-represented groups.

The Society are seeking both mentors and mentees. All participants are being asked to make a 12 month commitment, with meetings between mentor and mentee occurring about once a month, and preferably face-to-face (although there will be flexibility once the mentoring relationship is established).

Mentors need to be supportive people who are open to sharing their experiences and ideas; mentees must be keen to learn and develop, and be receptive and open to ideas. Full briefings and training to solicitors who are taking part in the programme will be provided.

Applications are now open for the 2017-18 programme, open to practising solicitors across England and Wales from all geographical and practice areas.
