Ethnic Minority and LGBT Council Seats

Ethnic Minority and LGBT Council Seats

The Law Society want members to have their say on the work of the Society, and to help those members get the maximum benefit from their membership. Once of the best ways of doing this is to register to vote in elections to the Society's governing body, the Council of the Law Society. The Council acts as the voice of the profession, and takes decisions on major strategy and policy.

For some seats, like the Ethnic Minority and LGBT representatives, the Society needs information on members so they can vote for their representatives. Joining the Society's Divisions is the best way for members to let the Society know what their interests are or what they would like to know more about.

Ethnic Minority Council Seats

The Society's ethnic minority members will be electing 3 council members to represent them. If you are a solicitor from an ethnic minority background you can sign up to vote for your representatives by registering with My Law Society and choosing your interests. Signing up to the Division and registering for the Council elections is free and only takes a few minutes.

The last day you can register to vote in the upcoming Council election is 31 May.

LGBT Council Seat

The Society's LGBT members will be electing a new LGBT council member to represent them. To vote for the new LGBT representative you must be signed up to the Society's LGBT Division. If you are not currently a member of the LGBT Division and would like to be then please email LGBT@lawsociety.org.uk to register. You are strongly encouraged to sign up by the end of May in order to allow you to vote for your representative.
