Membership of Tees Valley Law Society offers opportunities whether you are a qualified solicitor or other legal professional, or you are in the early stages of training.

Members are offered discounted rates for all of our training events, which are held locally and at the end of the working day to ensure the least disruption to you, your firm and your clients. We hold regular networking and social events where members can come together informally to discuss issues within the profession, but more importantly to share ideas.

LGFS Redetermination Guidelines

Following the outcome of the judicial review brought against the government by the Law Society, the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) has published guidance advising firms to apply for redeterminations of any claims caught by the now quashed LGFS regulations.

Also, a judicial review of the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme has seen it quashed, and so the LAA has extended the existing contract for an unspecified "contingency period". There is an ongoing re-tender for four schemes where providers have not wanted to extend their contracts beyond 30 September, although none of these is in the north east region.
