Tax Implications Of Probate

In this seminar Graeme Hills, Director at Duncan & Toplis Ltd., will talk about the latest position with regards to the tax implications of probate. The main areas being discussed will be:

  • An update on current Inheritance Tax law;
  • making the best use of tax reliefs in estate planning;
  • how and when to claim exemptions under the Main Residence Nil Tax Rate;
  • common tax pitfalls and mistakes.

Graeme joined Duncan & Toplis 15 years ago, initially at the Skegness office before relocating to the Grantham office in 2013.

Graeme’s role encompasses a huge variety of tax matters, and over the years he has sat on each of the firm’s tax technical committees.

Graeme is also the Head of Legal Practice at sister company, Duncan & Toplis Probate Services Limited, assisting clients with all non-contentious probate matters, as well as a director of Castlegate Financial Management Ltd.

Graeme lists IHT, Corporation Tax, capital allowances and VAT on land & property among his specialisms, as well as having involvement in the tax aspects of Lloyd’s underwriters as part of the Fidentia team.
