Review Of SDT Standard Of Proof - Your Views Needed

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) adjudicates on alleged serious breaches of the rules and regulations applicable to solicitors and their firms. It acts as both a first instance decision maker and considers appeals of decisions made by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Its powers include the ability to impose a fine, order a suspension from practice and to strike a solicitor off the Roll.

As part of a wider consultation, the SDT is expected to review the standard of proof it applies. To help the Law Society respond to this, they have published a discussion paper on which they are seeking members' views; responding to this document will help them to put your views forward.

The discussion paper is here.
