Northallerton Court Closure: Views Needed Urgently

Northallerton Court Closure: Views Needed Urgently

As part of the ongoing review of courts and court services, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) are consulting on the proposal to close Northallerton Magistrates' Court. The Law Society are working on a response to this consultation, and are seeking feedback from those who are affected:

  • Do you agree with the proposal to close this court?
  • If it is closed what are your views on the proposed options for reallocating work?
  • What other options do you think might work?
  • Would these closure and reallocation proposals have any particular impacts for you or any group you represent?
  • Do you have any further suggestions for improving the efficiency of the court in this area?
  • Do you think HMCTS have correctly identified the range and extent of the equality impacts? Do you have any other evidence or information concerning equalities that you think HMCTS should consider?

If you wish to contribute to the Law Society's response then the closing date for submissions is tomorrow, Friday 16 February, and so you will need to get your skates on! Responses should be emailed to Claire Quinn, the Law Society's Relationship Manager for the North.

If you can't make that tight deadline, then you can still respond directly until the consultation closes on 29 March by filling in the online survey.

The full consultation document can be accessed here, and the associated impact assessment is here.
